In April, we gathered more than 50,000 voices on Boston Common, and millions more across our country, to tell Donald Trump and his band of billionaires HANDS OFF our democracy.
Wannabe King Donald’s formula of chaos and crisis is a daily reminder that the values we hold dear – liberty, opportunity, and access – are under relentless assault.
Since then, you have continued to show up to defend our rights, our freedoms, and our Massachusetts values. Today, we recommit, redouble, and repeat: in the United States of America, there are NO KINGS.
We say NO to …
deploying troops in response to protests.
NO to shoving U.S. Senators to the ground.
NO to weaponizing federal agencies against political enemies.
NO to masked ICE agents who grab students and immigrants off the streets and from their homes.
NO to banning books and denying vaccines.
NO to intimidating institutions into silence.
We stand with Harvard. We stand with Rumeysa Ozturk. We stand with Marcelo Gomes and everyone being illegally and unconstitutionally targeted.
This is Massachusetts and we will not be bullied!
Trump is trying to rip health care from 16 million people, tear food away from hungry families, cut off access to education for working class Americans. All to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. We won’t let him!
I know these attacks feels overwhelming. Trump and Republicans want us to get tired, to give up, and to go home. But the people of Massachusetts have never bowed to wannabe kings—not 250 years ago. Not today. Not ever! We are the revolutionary state!
The battles ahead will not be easy. Trump and Republicans continue to sow fear and hate. But we will not let them win. We will fight. Every single day. We will not agonize; we will ORGANIZE!
On the streets, in the courtrooms, online, in our schools – we will chant, we will sing, we will pray, we will preach, we will shout – DEMOCRACY LIVES HERE. NO KINGS!
With your voices and your action, we will show that the American people are more powerful than Trump and his agenda of hate.
I will continue to fight alongside you. You are not alone. I love you all, and keep working for justice, for freedom, and for our democracy!”
